Homeowners with wood roofs will at some point be faced with two questions, “What condition is my roof in?“ and“What are my roofing options?”. Contrary to what many other Calgary roofing companies might say, repair on wood roofs is ALWAYS an option. Quite often, maintenance can be a more practical, economical and environmental option.
For Example, all of the CEDAR SHAKE ROOFS (between 20 and 30 years old) that we have ever inspected, have only 5-15% level of deterioration. This means that 85-95% of the shakes on the roof are still have life and are in good condition. In ARCO’s opinion, it doesn’t not make logical or financial sense to tear off 100% of the roof, in order to address the 5-15% that requires attention. Not only would tearing off the whole roof cost the homeowner more money upfront, but it also fills our landfills with unnecessary debris. Instead, cedar shake maintenance and repair work means that the problem areas are addressed, the overall lifespan of the roof is increased, less debris goes to the landfill, and of course, it saves the homeowner money (both short term and long term).
Whether you have had on-going problems with you shake roof, or you’ve never had any issues at all, REPAIR is an option that SHOULD be explored before a final decision is made.
ARCO’s goal is to inform and educate Calgary homeowners about the condition of their wood roof, and then let them decide what course of action is best. Regardless of which option the homeowner chooses, ARCO can help. Please take a few minutes to read a little more about why shake roof repair is an option that should be explored.
